Elizabeth
Grant
|
 |
 |
Elizabeth
has lived in Essex for 27+years and paints
under the name of Shea Coffey (derived from her
Irish family maiden names). Her work considers
the following elements: the spirit of the
natural landscape and its ability to speak to us on
several levels, the use of words to heal, hurt and
act as a mask for the truth of situations.
Elizabeth works in a variety of media but prefers
pastel, collage and oil. She also writes
the occasional poem. Works have also included
an 18ft x 6ft commemorative mural for a local
primary school, commissioned portraits and some
installation pieces. She is most proud that one
such piece was used by the Centre for Reconcilation
in County Wicklow, Ireland as a focus for its
workshops. In her time as an artist she has taught
junior school children, ran a painting holiday
business and organised an international arts
exhibition along with solo shows. Most
recently Elizabeth completed a Masters Degree in US
Politics & Contemporary History from The
Institute for the Study of the Americas (University
of London) and is currently lecturing on a part-time
basis. She is a long-time supporter of The
Foundation for Essex Arts and assists with
their public relations.

Andrea
Farmer
|
 |
 |
Born
1972, Essex, England, and presently living in
Chelmsford, Andrea
Farmer is an established artist and graphic designer.
She graduated from
the Kent Institute of Art and Design in 1993 with a
HND in Graphic Design
and Illustration.
Andrea's paintings are unique and vibrant. Her work is
held in collections
worldwide with a variety of corporate and private
commissions. Various
artworks are currently on long term exhibition with
galleries, corporate
and charity/healthcare establishments in England.
Andrea will also be
exhibiting extensively through to 2010 with the Rogue
Gene Collective,
Art4Essex, Activate and in solo/group/gallery
exhibitions. Andrea is
currently represented by Chimaera Gallery, Kent.
Andrea's work is inspired by the ever changing
environment plus nature's
colour, mood, texture and form. She favours a vibrant
use of colour - oil, ink and mixed media are her
preferred mediums. Gold and silver leaf also
feature in many of her artworks adding opulence to her
unique style of
painting.
Dramatic skies, cloud formations, movement and light
feature heavily in
her contemporary landscape and sunset paintings.
Living in Chelmsford,
Essex, England the vast beautiful countryside and
local views also
influence her work - alongside her travels to warmer
climates, especially
the coasts and islands of the Mediterranean and
Adriatic which feature in
her tranquil seascape and island paintings.

Trevor Harwood

 |
As a self-taught artist, I have painted since childhood exploring drawing, water-colour and oil painting in my formative years. Having obtained a Fine Art “A” level back in 1970 I was encouraged by work colleagues to persevere with my paintings and drawings, undertaking a few commissions on the way. However, it was not until 1996, that through an evening class things really began for me when, by a stroke of luck, I discovered pastel
|
 |
Landscapes and townscapes have since become my forte. I have entered local and national competitions and exhibitions with some success. My art materials travel with me everywhere, Italy and the Caribbean firm
favourites. I enjoy capturing local scenes, and work “en plein air” whenever I can. I also undertake commissions and teach workshops from my studio, give demonstrations to art groups across Essex and teach two local art groups. Pastel and more recently,
water-colour full day workshops are now regular events and well attended with very positive feedback. I am planning specific topic based workshops e.g "colour in music and paint", "towards abstraction" and "fragmentation art". |

Graham Peter Metson
|
 |
 |

|
 |
Graham was born in Chelmsford and has lived in Essex most of his life, particularly in Waltham Abbey where he has a studio. He previously lived, painted and studied in Edinburgh, gaining a diploma, an Andrew Grant Award and a commended post graduate qualification in drawing, painting and printmaking from Edinburgh College of Art. His work has been influenced by his travels to Greece, Crete, Tunisia, Holland, France and Scotland; also by his studies of Egyptian, Mexican and British art.
|
 |
He works from the life model and landscape direct, but many of his works have a broader thematic approach, being concerned with the energies of the planet and its natural forces. He is also a well published poet, with a number of awards from The International Society of Poets. |
