The Ongar Art Society was formed from people drawn together by the common love of all things to do with art and craft. There are no barriers, no age limit, no political significance; all are welcome. It is not necessary for a member to be an artist; anyone interested in art may have something of value to contribute or gain from joining us.

We meet on the second Thursday of each month between 8.00 – 10.00 pm in St Martin’s Church Hall, Castle Street, Ongar. Our programme includes demonstrations, criticisms, talks and slides on a variety of subjects which are related to art and craft. There are also various outings from time to time visiting art exhibitions and galleries. We also organise one day workshops for members.

The Annual Art Exhibition, which is held in Budworth Hall, is our most important event, serving as a shop window for members’ work. All members are very welcome to enter work into the exhibition.
