The
Foundation for Essex Arts.
Chairman,
Vin Harrop report, AGM July 2008.
Looking
back over the past two years, a time when the
Commission for an Essex Gallery became the Foundation
for Essex Arts (20 April 2006) my overriding
impression is of the richness, diversity and vitality
of the county’s artists and arts activities. There
is some evidence, too, that the arts in Essex are
reaching a steadily growing proportion of our people
and that the politicians are beginning to realise the
important role that the artist can play in the
community. ......

Basildon
Swimming Pool. We are continuing our campaign to obtain the use
of this iconic building for all of the arts from painting to dance.
The pool, which is in Gloucester Park, is due to be decommissioned and sold off,
to be replaced by a new pool at a different location.
This magnificent post-modernist building is set
in the open landscaped grounds of Gloucester Park, it was designed by
local architect, Ken Cotton and has become a well used and
iconic landmark for Basildon.

From the left; Peter Paterson, Vin Harrop and Mike Harrington at the meeting.
Would
you please join the group by becoming an ARTS AMBASSADOR and also take time to vote via the internet, giving your support to a petition
allowing the building to be use by 'all artistic groups'.
Please go to
http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/BASILDONGALLERY/ , and enter your details to caste your vote of support.
Thank
you for giving your support to BAT, START and the Essex
Gallery team
