The Consultative Process
True consultation is not simply about telling people that you have a great idea, a great concept for a building to cater for all of the arts, or a building that could help to shape the future of this great county of ours. This is why consultation at every level in our ‘community’ has taken place at an early stage in the development of the idea, and so we have spent over six years in finding out what you, the people of
Essex want, so we may help to foster our county’s arts- Essex arts!
Nowadays major cultural buildings are expected to be iconic- to create an image that people can carry in their minds, a symbol in architecture. This is most beneficial to the building and to the community. The people of Essex have told us that the ideal space for the arts is one whose fabric is independent of others, has flexible spaces and is conjoined in a structural way.
We have heard from thousands of Essex people over this time, but we would dearly like to hear from many more. So, if you want to tell us what you or your organisation would wish to see so that our county can express its creative aspirations and encourage its young people in particular to express their creativity through the arts, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.
Please write, telephone, e-mail or stop one of the Project Team and pass on your views- they are important to us and to the county of Essex.
